Executives/managers determine skill level according to organizational needs. If internal executives/ managers need support in specifying skill/ knowledge needs we partner with a consultant group of executives who have industry and role-specific knowledge and skills. |
Of specific note is the Cognitive Task Assessor (CTA) developed by Dr. Prinsloo to match the complexity capability needs of the job and with the person’s problem solving capabilities
The Cognitive Task Assessor (CTA) is a questionnaire that can be used to determine the Stratified Systems Theory (SST) level of work as reflected by a position. Completed by several job experts, a facilitated discussion enables identification of the requirements of a position, or group of positions. This enables the automated matching of job requirements and individual characteristics in terms of cognitive functioning.
What does the CTA measure?
The CTA is linked to the CPP's measurement of cognitive complexity and provides an indication of:
- The Level of Work of the position
- Cognitive Competency requirements of the position
- The linkage between an individual’s / team’s cognitive profile and that required by the job
Advantages of using the CTA
- Categorizes a job in terms of the Levels of Work
- Provides a brief report on the job tasks involved
- Indicates the cognitive competencies required by the job
- Links an individual's CPP results to his/her job requirements to indicate the degree of person-job match
- Compares a team's cognitive functioning to their job requirements
- Provides a facility for mapping all jobs in the organization, the individuals in those jobs, the degree of job-matching and potential for future job adaptation
- Powerful and sensitive Intellectual Capital Management tool
- Provides a visual indication of people’s perceptions of their jobs
Utility
- Organizational transformation
- Job clarification and restructuring
- Succession planning
- Linking people to jobs
- Developing people
